Small Group is designed to allow students to learn about Jesus through Bible study, prayer and group-bonding in a smaller environment. Your volunteers lead these groups so they can continue to disciple and invest in your kids’ spiritual growth back home.
You should have one small Group Leader for Group you assign. Groups can have more than one adult leader, but every group is required to have at least one adult.
Place kids in groups of 8 to 12 with one of your small group Leaders. We recommend placing groups by age (for example: 3rd-4th together and 5th-6th together). You might decide to separate by gender as well. You get to choose how to best arrange your group.
Large Group is a time for the individual churches to get together and debrief the day and get ready for the next day. The most important aspect of large group gatherings is to further the discussion about what God is doing in the lives of your students. This is especially true on Tuesday night when we present the Gospel and give students the opportunity to say yes to Jesus.
There is no material for this meeting time because we want you to lead your group the best way you feel God is leading you! Have fun, be serious, dive deeper, or have a time to share with each other what God is doing. However, we will provide the daily bible truths and key verses below that will be focused on each day.
Merge believes it is important for your adult leaders to lead small groups with your students. In small groups, there will be many opportunities for getting to know the students and discussion about what God is doing in their lives. What better person to lead these conversations than adults who will be doing life week in and week out with the students after camp?!
A few weeks before camp, you will get the small group lessons to look over. These are written in a way you can read it word for word to your group or take it and make it your own. Merge will provide everything needed during registration to teach these lessons.
Begin praying for your students weeks before camp. Pray for their safety, pray they enjoy camp, but most importantly, pray they will make a decision to take the next step in their relationship with Christ.
Your group will feed off your excitement and involvement at camp. If they see excitement in you about camp and all the activities they will not only meet that level but will exceed it.
Over the years the adults who enjoy camp the most are the ones that jump into all the activities. Don't believe us? Try it! Dress up for color games, participate in recreation, and worship like no one is watching and see what happens! Fully engage in camp and you’ll have a blast. WE DARE YOU!
